Local
Here are some of our recent activities:
  • Hosted Helmi Korhonen, a Rotary Exchange student from Finland, during her year long stay in New Zealand
  • Over 40 Handbags for Hope provided basic essentials for women in need at Women's Refuge
  • Mid-winter dinner funded two Emergency Response Kits for distribution after cyclonic disasters
  • 1954 lunches were made for Eat My Lunch
  • Quiz night in conjunction with the Cedar Centre fundraised for local projects
  • Sponsored a secondary school student to the 2-week Science Forum
  • 5km fun run/walk in conjunction with Calliope Athletic Club
  • Trees for Survival planting day with Verran Primary School
  • A weekend with Rotary Matamata created new friendships
  • Sponsored attendance of a local employee at Rotary Youth Leadership Awards leadership development programme!
International
From October 2015 to May 2016 Rotary Birkenhead lead the rebuild of Mbossung Cenre School in Ulei Village, Ambrym Island, Vanuatu after it waqs destroyed by Cyclone Pam.

Approximately 60 volunteers were involved and more than $150,000 was raised to rebuild 8 buildings, including classrooms and accommodation dormitories. Learn more.
